Being a mom is the hardest thing I've ever done, but it has brought me so much joy! I want to encourage other moms on their journey, I'll share motherhood tricks, spotlight tips I've learned from friends, and I hope you will share your ideas. I will focus on secrets that help families stay balanced, healthy, frugal, creative, and closely knit. I will also share favorite fiction and nonfiction books that I have enjoyed. Family Tradition - Homemade Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Making homemade ice cream is quite a tradition in my DH's family.  I'm so glad he has carried the tradition into my side of the family too.  This is the newest ice cream recipe that we've been experimenting with.  I'd love to hear your favorite ice cream recipes!

6 cups 2% milk
6 cups heavy cream
3 cups sugar
1.5 teaspoons salt
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
2.5 teaspoons peppermint extract
6-8 drops green food coloring (optional)
6oz miniature semisweet chocolate chips

Put all ingredients EXCEPT chocolate chips into  a large bowl.  Stir until the sugar has dissolved.

Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker.  After about 10 minutes into the freezing, add the chocolate chips. When the ice cream maker complete’s its cycle, put the container into the  freezer for 2 hours to freeze more solidly.
